Kickstart your future

From programming fundamentals to launching full-stack web apps, you'll learn to solve problems with code while applying industry best practices in a collaborative environment.

Learn circuitry in stem summer program

Understand the foundation for all electronic devices, from your phone to a speaker - and then some.

Learn to code and develop web applications during stem summer program

Web Applications

Build web applications from the ground up using Ruby on Rails, a modern web language and MVC framework. Build quality APIs using Node.js and integrate data from other apps (like Google Maps or Uber) into your project.

Learn front-end web development and code websites during stem summer program

Front-End Web Dev

Build a webpage by giving it structure, meaning, and design with HTML and CSS. Then integrate Javascript to build sophisticated, responsive, and dynamic sites.

Dive Right In

Dream up big innovative ideas during our stem summer program with engineering and coding concepts

Part I: Introduction

Start off on the right foot. Begin work with core concepts in circuitry and computer science. You'll start off by learning fundamentals in physics and basics in programming, like data structures, web design, and development best practices.

Part II: Skill Development

Using the foundation established in Part I, we'll start working with more complex topics in both engineering and computer science. You'll learn to create complex projects like sound-to-light sensors and solar-powered cars, and begin to build applications using Javascript and Ruby on Rails.

Students work on projects applying the skills and knowledge base they've gained so far on coding and engineering during our stem summer program

During the final weeks of the stem summer program students work on developing their personal final projects through combining their coding and engineering skills

Part III: Creation

Weeks of knowledge will cumulate in your own final project. You choose what you want to create - anything from a full-fledged web application to a rocket security system - we'll provide mentoring and guidance for whatever invention you choose.  If you want to launch a product, we'll guide you through the entrepreneurship process and found a company.

A Day in the Life

Mentor Leading engineering Class Discussion in Program

9:50 am - 10:00 am

We start all of our classes with a recap of the previous day's work to refresh our students' memory, usually with a quirky task or activity (e.g. design a tool to peel eggs). This also serves as a warm-up to get them thinking and ready for a day of building.

Student Coding Website on Laptop

Morning Session: Computer Science

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Start the day off on the right foot by writing code! Students will be introduced to a new tool or algorithm then implement it in a series of activities and try it on anything, from debugging old code to designing a new project. Finally, the class will work on a lab that synthesizes past and new CS knowledge.

Students having lunch break during program

Lunch Break

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Relax and chat inside, or go out for some fresh air and explore the surrounding area (Lower Manhattan is a foodie's dream!). Students are welcome to continue working on their projects or talk to mentors for extra help or guidance.

Mentor teaching student soldering on a circuitboard during program

Noon Session: Engineering

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Constructing a motor, soldering an LED circuit, and drilling a hole in steel are fun, but first we need to understand the fundamentals. Students will first learn about the theory and physics within the engineering, then get hands-on working with real tools on projects.

Feedback & Recap

3:00 pm - 3:10 pm

We wrap up the day with a final recap, and students are encouraged to share their thoughts on the day's work. Many students stay afterwards for extra mentoring, and they are encouraged to do so.

A learning experience done differently.
